RLP Brake Lever Set - fits Magura

  • Does the brake need to be bled to install the OAK RLP Brake Lever Set?

Yes, because the bending protection must be installed. We have tested intensively how the brake line can be reliably protected.

Plastic and rubber were quickly out of the running. Only the use of a steel spring could distribute the point load over a sufficient area and protect the line in the long term. This means that spongy pressure points or oil leaks from leaky brake lines are a thing of the past.

  • Does your Bending Protection have to be installed in order to use the Brake Lever Set?

Yes, it is absolutely necessary to install the Bending Protection. The function of the OAK RLP Brake Lever is only guaranteed if it is supported on this component.

  • How does the RLP Brake Lever perform compared to the Magura models?

The RLP Brake Lever uses the sweet spot of braking power and controllability. We get the maximum performance out of your Magura brake system, but manage to provide even more controllability through an optimized lever ratio.

  • Magura offers several Brake Levers, why does OAK only have one?

Due to a very large adjustment range, we can optimally cover all conceivable settings with one lever version. We don't like trying many different parts to find the right version. This wastes time and resources. We stick to one option which is guaranteed to be able to do everything!

  • Why should I use a RLP Brake Lever if my original Magura Brake Lever is broken?

Our brake lever is designed to be more stable to withstand even the greatest stresses in tough racing use. Due to the exquisite choice of materials and intelligent construction, it is more durable than all its competitors. Guaranteed!

Furthermore, with the Root-Lever Pro you can cover a very large adjustment range with just one lever.

  • I have problems with the spring on my Magura Brake Lever, is there a solution?

We know the problem of loose springs from our own painful experience and have therefore developed a system that does not require a return spring at all. No spring – no problem!

  • What is the mechanical gear ratio of the OAK RLP Brake Lever?

    Gear ratio is about 6.5 : 1

General questions regarding OAK Brake Levers

TR Brake Lever Set - fits TRP

  • How much closer is the TR Brake Lever to the handlebars than the original lever?

The TR lever from OAK can be placed very close to the handlebars. In the initial state, this means (depending on the grip thickness you are using) a distance of about 30mm between the finger rest on the lever and the outer edge of the grip.

  • Does the TR Brake Lever also fit TRP Evo Pro?

No, it is not compatible with this brake model.

SR Brake Lever Set - fits SRAM

  • Does the SR Brake Lever also fit DB8?

No, it is not compatible with this brake model.

  • Does the SR Brake Lever also fit Motive / Maven Base?

Yes, as of version 1.3 our SR Brake lever is approved for installation on Motive / Maven Base brakes.

If you own an older version SR lever: It is possible to slightly modify the lever blade and therefore make it fit. However, please be aware that we cannot take back modified levers.

SH Brake Lever Set - fits Shimano

  • Does the SH Brake Lever also fit XT BL-M8220 / XTR BL-M9220?

No, it is not compatible with these brake models.

  • Does the SH Brake Lever also fit BL-M6000 / M7000 / M8000 / M9020?

Officially, our SH brake lever is not approved for installation on these brakes. Depending on the model and production date of the brake master, the SH brake lever may have some axial play. It is also possible that the pin has too large of a diameter and needs to be ground down in order to fit through the borehole. With some patience and craftsmanship, installation is possible. However, we can only recommend using one of the compatible brakes, preferably an XTR BL-M9120 or a Saint BL-M820 in combination with our custom bushings. Also, please be aware that we cannot take back modified lever blades or provide Shimano spare parts.

  • Why does the SH Brake Lever return more slowly than the original lever?

Our SH brake lever is preloaded with a strong torsional spring. This reduces the force required when pulling the brake and reliably keeps the brake lever in its initial position. In some configurations, the high spring rate may cause the lever to return to its starting position only very slowly. For these cases, we have included weaker springs with each brake lever set. They are coated in black so they can be easily distinguished from the standard springs.

Orbit Seatclamp

  • How do I find the right seatclamp size for my bike?

    Version 1:

Dismantle your existing saddle clamp and measure the outer diameter. To do this, loosen the clamping screw on your saddle clamp and pull it upwards. Now you can measure the outer diameter of the clamping surface on which the saddle clamp sits or the inner diameter of the dismantled saddle clamp.

We recommend using a caliper for good measuring results. Check beforehand whether the diameter is printed on the seat clamp; this can save you having to measure. Deviations of +/- 0.3mm in the clamp diameter are normal. (Example: Your seat clamp says 35mm -> a 34.9mm seat clamp will still fit).

    Variant 2:

Check the data sheet for your bike frame. This always states the seat post diameter and usually also the clamping diameter for seat clamps. Sometimes only the seat post diameter is given, but this does not provide any information about the clamping diameter of the seat clamp. In this case, proceed as explained in option 1.

  • What is the height of the Orbit Seatclamp?

The clamp height is 12mm, the total height of the Seatclamp is 13mm.

Grown Bashguard

  • What is the hole spacing of the Bashguard?

    53 - 57 mm

  • Why are there two different kind of screws included?

The bolts of our bashguard are designed to break in the event of a heavy impact before any damage can occur to the frame’s ISCG-05 threads. The steel bolts can withstand slightly more force, but for carbon frames, we recommend using only the aluminum bolts.

  • I broke my bolts, how do I get a replacement?

Spare parts are only available via our Support Team. Please send a message to support@oakcomponents.com.

Plasmadapt Bremsadapter

  • How do I find the right Adapter size for my bike?

First, determine which rotor size you want to use. Then, you need to find out the brake mount size of your fork or frame. The easiest way to find this information is on the manufacturer’s product page under “Specifications.” The difference between the rotor size and the brake mount size gives you the size of the required adapter. For example: 203 mm – 180 mm = 23 mm.

  • Does the Plasmadapt also fit Maven / Gustav calipers?

Yes! Our Plasmadapt is designed to fit even the biggest of brake calipers.

Eternal Vorbau

  • What are the dimensions of the Topcap screw?

Screw DIN 7984 A2 M6x35 flat head screw with SW4
